Career & Achievements: With extensive experience at high management levels in both the Public and Private Sectors, John's experience ranges from heavy engineering to tertiary education to industry development and the statutory position of Government Printer.
He participated for many years on the Queensland State Purchasing Council, was a long standing Board Member of the QUT based Australian Centre for Strategic Management and has extensive experience with influential groups in the Public and Private Sectors, often at Chairperson level.
John has worked as Marketing Manager at Comsteel where sales were $100million per annum, including 30% export. He moved to Operations Manager at Comsteel, managing a large production facility with 1700 staff.
Since 1981 John has been at General Manager level at Walkers Maryborough, TAFE, Austral-Denning, GOPRINT and A Goninan (QLD). He operated at Director level or above in several State Government Departments and has consulted to several Departments. Extensive travel, both within Australia and overseas, has been associated with these positions.
John has been a change agent for his entire career, transacting change from within organisations where he was invited or placed to create change and produce successful outcomes. His specialty is cultural change and the achievement of new and positive outcomes, and there is a strong systems base and knowledge of latest technologies and management trends.
John now operates from his company Change Challenge Pty Ltd. Previously a TEC member, John has been a TEC Chair since 2001.
