Biography:

Career & Achievements: Lou has extensive banking, finance, corporate and capital market experience at Chief Executive and Senior Executive level in Australia and overseas. He served as Chief Operating Officer for St George Bank in 2001 and 2002 and as Managing Director of the Bank of South Australia from 1997 to 2001. St George Bank assets at the time were circa $50 billion, with staff of 8,000 and net profits in the region of $400 million. The Bank of South Australia staff numbers were 1,000 with net profits around $75 million.

Lou spent 4 years in London with the Barclays Bank Group, as Director of Capital Markets Division for Barclays Merchant Bank from 1986 to 1989. He was responsible for Commercial Paper Sales Teams and for origination of major corporate finance facilities, for companies in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.

His banking and finance career spanned 42 years with Chief Executive or Senior Executive responsibilities in all mainland States in Australia. From 1992 to 1997, Lou was General Manager of commercial and corporate banking for St George Bank, based in Sydney, and was responsible for the group's commercial business throughout Australia.

Lou's corporate and commercial exposure, both in Australia and overseas, has been extensive and has provided an understanding of business needs from SME level to Multi National Corporate entities.

Lou is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and past Chairman of The Australian Quality Council in South Australia.

Lou has been a TEC Chair since 2004.
