Career & Achievements: With an extensive career at the strategic level, Paul has some 20 years experience as a "hands-on manager", running profit centres throughout most of Australia. He is experienced in running sales forces in conjunction with operational areas such as installation and service, as well as the associated administration functions. He has run businesses up to $70 million turnover at regional, state and national levels.
Paul initially spent 7 years in the telecommunications industry generating network forecasts for NT, SA, NSW and the ACT. With industry deregulation he became a Product Manager responsible for launching, marketing and withdrawing numerous products.
He joined Chubb Electronic Security (CES) in 1986-87 as a
Product Manager, then as Marketing Manager assumed higher levels of
responsibility in generating functional specifications, technical
specifications, beta testing, marketing mix and launches.
In 1989 he moved to Melbourne as Victorian State Manager of CES.
During this posting, Paul was on the Victorian Strategic TQM (Total
Quality Management) Committee and helped Victoria CES win several
awards by engineering - a dramatic turnaround in profitability. In
1993 he moved back to Sydney as NSW State Manager of CES.
In 1996, he took a sabbatical with his wife and young family and lived in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Upon his return late in 1996 he joined James Hardie Building Services Division as NSW State Manager - Building Automation. Later career moves saw him become National Manager then GM within Williams Plc, a UK conglomerate.
Since joining Periscope in 2002, Paul has provided consultancy services to those companies subjected to either the rigors of being sold, merged or seeking to grow by acquisition.
Previously a TEC member, Paul started as a TEC Chair in 2007.
Personal: Paul is from Adelaide and his wife is from Darwin. They met in Darwin and were married in Sydney. Their two children were born in Melbourne and commenced their schooling in Sydney. Paul and his family are now permanently based in Brisbane.
