Biography:

Career & Achievements: Robin's career commenced with Shell UK in the early '60s as a Management Trainee in sales operations. This was followed by senior appointments in corporate procurement with Ford Motor Company UK, GAF Australia Ltd (Sydney) and Ford Asia Pacific (Melbourne).

In 1978 Robin was appointed General Manager Hendersons Springs where major change programs were implemented to move the company into world best practice and enabling it to become the foremost auto suspension original equipment supplier in Australia.

In 1982 he was appointed Group General Manager of Hendersons Auto Seating a newly established company. Through a program of manufacturing rationalisation, development of a "common industry seat" concept and the establishment of technical agreements with companies in Japan and America, the group was established as the No.1 auto seat designer and manufacturer in Australia.

In 1985 Robin accepted a position as Divisional General Manager of James Hardie `Electrical. The company was incurring major losses. Following a total rationalisation of manufacturing, sales and distribution the Company moved into profit and was sold shortly thereafter. He then moved to Nissan Australia as Manager Manufacturing Development and Production Control and Logistics where he was responsible for the business administration of Nissan vehicle manufacturing in Australia including Government and external commercial affairs, cost control, capital budget, business plans and manufacturing policy and procedures.

In 1988 Robin entered personal equity business on a 50% basis importing and distributing nationally marine electronics and compasses on an agency basis, where he remained for five years. In early 1993 he re-entered the corporate world as a General Manager of Brambles / Cleanaway Victoria where he remained until late 1994 when he resigned to become - Chairman of the newly formed Victorian Government Procurement Board - a position he held for nine years to September-04 and - Manager Group Procurement CPO for Goodyear Australia from which he retired after eight years also at the end September-04.

Robin was appointed to the Appeals Panel Pool -Victorian Government - Essential Services Commission in September 2006 for a period of five years and as a Trustee Director of Equipsuper Pty Ltd in February 2007 for a three year term.

Robin is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD) and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Purchasing and Material Management (FAIPMM).

A former TEC Member, Robin has been Chair of TEC 42 since 2005. He is married with three adult daughters.
