WA's labour crisis to deepen

WESTERN Australian CEOs believe the burgeoning labour crisis in Australia will deepen before the situation improves.

In a TEC Instant Poll of business leaders conducted by CEO executive group The Executive Connection (TEC), more than 80 per cent of respondents rated a serious labour shortage as the priority issue facing WA companies.

TEC WA coordinator John Cluer warned hundreds of businesses were confronted with productivity, cash flow and profitability problems as key resources sector projects continued to pressure the labour market.

"Addressing a deficit in leadership skill is a key priority for Australian businesses,'' he said.
